A lot has happened after the ’23 rental seasion ended the 1st of Nov ’23. We arrived and began the task of repairing/restoring/updating the cottage and property for the ’24 season.
There was another beach nourishment project this summer of ’23. Once again, the loose sand gets moved around by the winds and was really creating a nuisance with the sand encroaching on the lower decks and filling up the underside of the house. I moved some sand out from under the house myself but the largest, most visible improvement was the relocation of sand from around the outside of the home and the beach walkway.
Also new for ’24, the garbage disposal was replaced as the old one leaked badly and ruined the ceiling in the downstairs bedroom. While the ceiling was down, the old cpvc plumbing to the kitchen was replaced with PEX, and the range outlet was moved in the wall to allow placing the range flush to the cabinet faces. That was bugging me since we bought the place. A new dishwasher has been installed, a new, larger hot water heater installed, a new microwave oven, a new outdoor unit for the air conditioner was also installed, and a new ceiling fan in the twin room bedroom. A new ceiling and fresh paint completed the ‘twin room’ bedroom.
The improvement that will benefit our guests the most was the sand relocation. The oceanview from the lower deck is back! The gallery below shows the before and after views. I hope you all like it!
